A Prismatic Installation with Giant, Abstract Forms Sweeps Across a Berlin Museum

This abstract work by Katharina Grosse is limitless in that it doesn’t follow the traditional boundaries of a museum or gallery – it expands beyond the doorways and outside of the museum itself. The work seems almost otherworldly with its bright colors and extreme scale. It specifically reminded me of the guideline Jacob gave us for our first project – “The image/form must extend off at least two edges of the paper.” Grosse’s abstract work seems to have no beginning and no end because of its continuation throughout the museum outward, leaving the viewer with a sense of wonder and allowing for greater imagination.
