Summertime blues: Five Points Gallery in Torrington

The author Laurie Fendrich details her experience of visiting the not-for-profit Five Points Gallery at the Five Points Center for the Visual Arts, in Torrington, Connecticut and how it felt to come back to art after months of quarantining. I also remember visiting the National Gallery of Art in August when they started opening back up for scheduled visitors and loved coming back to the “‘The White Cube’ experiencebeing inside a space specially constructed for seeing art.

Ellen Hackl Fagan’s work Seeking Blue, where she tries to evoke some of the sounds she hears and feelings she has through cobalt blue, reminded me of our exercise on drawing abstract concepts and I thought it was interesting how she decided to use a color (one of my favorite colors) instead of just black and white.
