Janaina Mello Landini uses ropes of all lengths and thicknesses to create three dimensional images that sprawl out to blend different types of spaces. In class, we talked about the juxtaposition of random and order in abstract art. By reorganizing the labyrinths of intertwined rope, this piece creates a unique visualization of the coalescence of mind and body, natural and artificial. The art resembles neuron networks and tree roots, all the while its source is connected to a pile of inanimate, synthetic fibers.
