Who Designed COVID-19?

Founder of Design Emergency and Senior Curator at MoMa Alice Rawsthorn sits down with Alissa Eckert, medical illustrator, to discuss the visual manifestation of an invisible yet deadly virus.

At the onset of the virus, Alissa Eckert was commissioned by the Center for Disease Control to create a “visual identity” for the virus. . . a “mugshot” as Eckert calls it. In the video below, Eckert outlines her response to the task of creating an image that is both scientifically accurate and viscerally appealing.
