At the onset of the virus, Alissa Eckert was commissioned by the Center for Disease Control to create a “visual identity” for the virus. . . a “mugshot” as Eckert calls it. In the video below, Eckert outlines her response to the task of creating an image that is both scientifically accurate and viscerally appealing.
