Most notable is these illustration’s geometric simplicity and minimal color palette. More specifically, the usage of simple lines and shapes echoes the significance of preserving only the key details of an image (as discussed in the Susan Kare video). Likewise, the pieces show how using only red, black, and off-white is sufficient to indicate a clear sense of shape and a light source for otherwise more complex figures. Despite not being speculative, these images still capture the same motifs of design we’ll be emulating in our manuals.
