Intricate Designs Using A Single Sheet of Paper

This article sheds lights on the designs created by the artist, Pippa Dyrlaga. She cuts and shapes a single sheet of paper into various abstract and concrete forms. Some of her abstract designs incorporate distinct elements which subtly hint at the object she is trying to depict. I felt that this is something very similar to what we are trying to achieve in ‘Invisible Cities’. The kind of textures and patterns created by her on paper could be translated digitally to create the illusion of a particular object without carving out its actual shape. She also uses color symbolically which helps to bring out the true meaning of the forms created by her.
