Glitched Paintings by Olan Ventura Give a Contemporary Twist to 17th Century Still Lifes

I ‘m really drawn to these pieces because I think the subject matter is very fun and cheeky, and sort of flips the idea of our current project. That is, we’ll be creating/representing our still lifes with code, trying to recreate our images as clearly as possible. These paintings in contrast attempt to sort of show what would happen if these still lifes were made digital by “glitching out”, albeit still in a painted medium. I really appreciate how pristine the digital effects look in light of this.
