Graphic designer puts skills to use gathering data on mask use in Wake County

After being laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, graphic designer Carl Broaddus collected data on mask use in North Carolina. He went to each zip code in Wake County and sampled how many people in crowded areas were wearing masks. He then correlated his data to the amount of COVID cases in those areas. Much like the project we are doing now, Broaddus inputted his data into graphic images for the public with the hopes of raising awareness.

Here is an excerpt of his project as taken from his webpage: NCDHHS is sharing cumulative case count at the zip code level now. Seeing national numbers and state-by-state numbers can and has been impactful, but seeing numbers that directly reflect the reality of your community can move people to change their behavior.
