Fractal art is a form of algorithmic art created by calculating fractal objects and representing the calculation results as still images, animations. This fractal art is created by the Mandelbrot set, a formula that is extremely important for Chaos theory in mathematics. I do not fully understand how the formula works but the visual representation of the data was extremely intriguing to me. I originally saw this on Google’s front page commemorating the scientist, Mandelbrot, who came up with the formula and immediately thought of the data portrait project. It is truly remarkable how mathematics can create some beautiful digital arts.
