Interpreting ‘Invisible Cities’

This article features various interpretations of Italo Calvino’s ‘Invisible Cities’ that artists have created over the years. It is very interesting to see the diverse ways in which the same description can be perceived and translated into a piece of art. The article contains both abstract and concrete representations of the same city. I thought that looking at this contrast was a great way to understand the difference between symbolism and direct interpretations. The artwork for the cities of Diomira and Zora highlight this distinction well!
