Contemporary Elevation Data and Historical Maps Merge in Scott Reinhard’s Digital Works

This article features Scott Reinhard and his work with data and map generation. I was super intrigued by his work here where he merged historical maps and contemporary land elevations, using data to create these really beautiful illustrations like we talked about in class. This work feels so palpable and intricate that it’s like I’m looking at a birds eye view of the landscape with all the key features noted on the land/water itself. I really appreciated the combination of different but very similar data to create these pieces and the execution was done perfectly.

Check out the pieces here.
